AMVETS, VFW and American Legion Riders
Escort the Vietnam Veteran's Moving Wall

I recently had the great honor of visiting several veteran's
organizations on my vacation to Ohio. While I was there I met with my
brother, Jerry St. Cyr and my cousin Dan Manson, retired
Air Force. They introduced me to the officers of their AMVETS Post in
Covington, Ohio. Their post is in the process of forming an AMVETS
Riders Chapter and I was asked to give them some information on how we
did it with the American Legion. It was a productive meeting and a
great chance to meet with fellow veterans from the great state of Ohio.
After I left members of local VFWs, American Legion Riders and AMVETS Riders escorted the Moving Vietnam Memorial Wall to their community. These
pictures are from that event. Soon our northern brothers will be
parking their bikes and enduring an off season for riding. |

The mission was 13 1/2 miles from Gover HD East on US 36, North on
Troy-Sidney Rd, merge onto County Rd 25A, to Wapakoneta Rd in Sydney.
Destination was VFW Post 4239. Time of rally was 18:00 on Oct 18, 2006.
Jerry was in a chase vehicle insuring the safety of the riders and taking these photographs..
An estimated 350 motorcycle riders were present. They came from many local clubs and organizations. |

Also present were Troopers from The Ohio
Highway Patrol, Piqua Police, Miami County Sherrif &
Sidney Officers. They were great, all crossing traffic was held till we
passed. We escorted the Wall from Gover HD to the Sidney VFW Post were
it will stay for a few days before continuing their mission. While I was in Ohio I had the opportunity to visit Gover HD. They are an excellent dealership with ample parking. Thanks for helping in this mission. |

The states of Ohio and Florida have more motorcycles per capita than
any other states. And like Florida, Ohio has a large population of
veterans. I was very proud to meet the members of my brother's AMVETS
Post and enjoy the hospitality of the Piqua VFW Post while I visited.
These veteran's organizations perform a tremendous service to their
communities and I encourage everyone to support their efforts in making
veteran's lives more productive. |

Now our brothers in Ohio will be parking their bikes for the winter. Many will be suffering from PMS (Parked Motorcycle Syndrome) soon. But the end of the riding season doesn't mean the end of performing their good works. I salute our brothers in Ohio and say "job well done." I look forward to visiting again next year.
